The International Amusement & Leisure Defense Association, Inc. is a non-profit association of lawyers and other professionals who are actively engaged in representing the interests of the amusement and leisure industries. Membership in the IALDA is open to experienced members of the Bar who regularly represent the amusement and leisure industries as well as business owners and managers, claims professionals and expert witnesses in these same fields.
Lary Zucker (Board Member/Past President), David Daly (Board Member/Past President), Paul Cavanaugh (President), Tom Brown (Board Member), Sara Mazzolla (Board Member), and Alicia Caridi (Board Member) attended the Annual RSA Convention and Trade Show in Orlando on May 7th, 2024. They hosted Breakfast with IALDA and presented the Legal Roundtable, which explored how adherence to the Risk Management Guidelines can impact claim valuation.
David Daly, Paul Cavanaugh and Sara Mazzolla attended the NAFDMA Convention and Expo at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts on February 3, 2024 and presented at a legal roundtable sponsored by Kim Ayers, an insurance producer at Leavitt Recreation & Hospitality. Thank you, Kim!
IALDA Board Members Lary Zucker (Past President), Gaylee Gillim (Secretary/Past President), Alicia Caridi, and Rudie Baldwin attended the World Waterpark Association Symposium & Trade Show in New Orleans on October 25th, 2023. They presented a seminar titled “Brand Mindful Litigation Strategies in the Era of Cancel Culture.” The discussion included examples and stories of how litigation can take a turn for the worse and negatively affect your reputation/brand, strategies to avoid such pitfalls, and future-focused recommendations of how to stay in front of PR nightmares.
Jerry Landers (Board Member/Past President), Lary Zucker (Board Member/Past President), Jeff Johnson (President), Paul Cavanaugh (Vice President), Joshua Greer (Board Member), Sara Mazzolla (Member), and Clodagh Lane attended the Annual RSA Convention and Trade Show in Las Vegas on May 2nd, 2023. They hosted the Breakfast with IALDA event and presented a seminar titled “Risk Management Is More Than Accident Prevention.” Covered topics included discrimination and harassment, preserving the corporate form, cyber security, and social media.
IALDA presented the Legal Roundtable at the 2023 AIMS International Safety Seminar. The session was moderated by Clodagh Lane of Daly Cavanaugh LLP and facilitated by IALDA members Joan Allgaier, Pat Hoffman, Suzanne Kersh, Bryan Pope, Kent Sanders, and Ryon Yemm.
Jeffrey Johnson, VP, Paul Cavanaugh, Treasurer, Joshua Greer, Board Member, and Clodagh Lane from Daly Cavanaugh LLP, attended the 84th Annual RSA Convention and Trade Show in Reno, Nevada on May 3rd & May 4th, 2021. They hosted the Breakfast Conversation with IALDA and gave a presentation, Legal Preparation with IALDA. Members Alicia Caridi, Michael Alberico, Michael Amaro and Lary Zucker participated in the presentation by video conferencing.

This annual event is an excellent opportunity to see old friends and make new ones as IALDA shares 25 years of experience defending the amusement industry!! IALDA members will participate in multiple events Wednesday, November 14 and Thursday, November 15.
On October 24, 2018, five IALDA lawyers presented a seminar “Answers for Operators: Legal Perspectives on Your Issues” at the World Waterpark Association Annual Symposium and Trade Show in Las Vegas. Rudie Baldwin, Joe Brownlee, Gaylee Gillim, Jeff Johnson, and Louis Lopez addressed topics submitted by the WWA Education Committee: ADA – service animals and ride access; bag searches; use of CCTV; and post-incident remedial measures.
The audience was very receptive and followed up with the presenters throughout the conference. Thanks to everyone who contributed!

The award was given for Zucker’s dedicated service work to support the amusement industry and related legal issues. Zucker, a founding member of IALDA, played a key role in assisting with the drafting of Risk Management Guidelines for the RSA and BPAA.

IALDA presented two seminars at this year’s WWA convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. We had a wonderful turnout for the trade show and convention – Board members Mike Amaro, Joe Brownlee, Dave Daly and Gaylee Gillim were joined by members Dwayne Beck, Tom Brown, Jeff Johnson, John Paul Scott, and Alicia (Caridi) Smith. IALDA signs were prominently displayed at the ballroom entrance to Thursday’s keynote speaker session, and IALDA was also acknowledged on the screen and in person by Rick Root, Executive Director of WWA.
